The much-anticipated "The Haunting" event is making a spine-chilling comeback, bringing with it an array of thrilling content that pays homage to the classic horror film genre. This exciting update, set to launch on October 9, is poised to immerse players into a world filled with terror and suspense across all three game modes. Players are invited to explore new map variants such as Bootown and night versions of Verdansk and Rebirth Island. Additionally, the update introduces new game modes like Slasher Deathmatch and Haunted Havoc, where players can embrace their inner monster and confront the undead in a variety of chilling scenarios.
Multiplayer Experience
The multiplayer segment of the update introduces several new maps, each offering unique environments and gameplay experiences. One of the standout maps, "Gravity," is set in the sprawling compound of the Advanced Technologies and Applications Gravity Division. Players can engage in combat while navigating through a low-gravity room, concrete bunkers, and an outer walkway, adding a dynamic twist to traditional multiplayer skirmishes.
Another map, "Rig," transports players to a truck stop at dusk, where a turned-over rig has collided with gas station pumps. This setting offers diverse combat opportunities, from battling through a combined restaurant and shop to taking strategic positions on the garage and motel balcony.
The "Mothball" map draws inspiration from a cognitive research facility featured in the Black Ops 6 campaign. Combatants will find themselves clashing around a towering golden statue and its surrounding outer wings, providing a visually stunning backdrop to intense firefights.
For those who enjoy a touch of the macabre, the "Bootown" map variant offers a spooky atmosphere. Set in a quiet cul-de-sac, this Nuketown variant is filled with Halloween elements like skeletons, spiders, and Jack-o’-Lanterns. The eerie soundscape of menacing laughter and creaking doorways enhances the overall haunting experience.
New Multiplayer Modes
One of the exciting additions to the multiplayer modes is "Slasher Deathmatch." This mode pits players against each other with a horror twist, drawing inspiration from iconic villains. In this hide-and-seek style game, two players are randomly selected to become slashers, hunting down the remaining survivors. The survivors must outwit the slashers and survive until time runs out.
In "Slasher Deathmatch: Jason," players can embody the infamous Jason Voorhees from "Friday the 13th." Armed with a machete, Jason moves with an unsettling speed that increases as he closes in on his victims. The last survivor standing is granted a pickaxe, a powerful weapon capable of defeating Jason.
The "Slasher Deathmatch: Chucky" mode introduces abilities inspired by the notorious Chucky, a doll possessed by a serial killer. Slashers can use a combat knife and have extra lives to stay in the fight, while survivors have access to shock charges and Molotov cocktails to defend themselves.
Zombies Overview
The update also brings new content to the Zombies mode with the "Haunted Havoc" limited-time mode (LTM). This mode plunges players into a relentless nightmare filled with lurking Mimics and treat-filled Jack-o’-Lanterns. The gameplay is intensified by a forced Rampage Inducer, making zombies faster and more aggressive from the outset. While zombie health is reduced until Round 15, their damage output increases significantly, creating a challenging experience for players.
"Haunted Havoc" is available across all six maps, and completing the main quest unlocks valuable rewards, including a pack of unique GobbleGums, an Ultra GobbleGum, and a substantial XP boost.
A whimsical addition to the game is the "Jacked Lanterns" GobbleGum, which transforms zombie heads into pumpkin heads, infusing the Halloween spirit into any gameplay, even outside the Haunted Havoc mode.
New Leaderboard Events
Two new leaderboard events, "Death Pit" and "Extinction Protocol," add competitive elements to the zombie experience. In Death Pit, players compete to gather the most Essence in Haunted Havoc, while Extinction Protocol challenges players to eliminate zombies using Scorestreaks or Field Upgrades to earn points and progress.
Call of Duty: Warzone Overview
The haunting atmosphere extends to Call of Duty: Warzone, where night descends on Verdansk and Rebirth Island, setting the stage for a series of zombified battles. Players can explore these night map variants and engage in limited-time modes that offer thrilling experiences.
One such mode is "Casual Z," where players face off against a combination of human opponents, bots, and zombies. Both regular and armored zombies roam the map, attacking any living players they encounter. This mode is available on Verdansk and Rebirth Island.
Another highlight is the return of "Zombie Royale," which introduces new zombie abilities and features that span the entire map. In this mode, fallen operators are resurrected as zombies, and they must work with their remaining squad members to eliminate enemy squads and collect special Anti-Virals to return to the match as living operators.
The addition of "Zombie Abilities" allows players to disguise themselves as props, only to reveal their true identity when enemies approach, creating opportunities for surprise attacks. The EMP Blast disrupts human operators and their gear, while the Mutant Injection transforms players into the powerful Mangler.

The update also introduces new weapons and attachments to enhance gameplay. Players can unlock the Dresden 9mm SMG and Merrick 556 Assault Rifle through the Battle Pass. In-game events offer opportunities to acquire the X52 Resonator Special Weapon and the formidable Chainsaw Melee weapon.
