Nikon Announces New President and CEO

Yasuhiro Ohmura has been appointed as the new Representative Director and President, CEO of Nikon, starting from April 1, 2026. With a rich history dating back to 1917, Nikon has always been at the forefront of seeking the limitless potential of light and providing innovative solutions.

In their previous Medium-Term Management Plan, which concluded in March, Nikon outlined their Vision 2030 and identified Imaging Products and Precision Equipment as their “Main Businesses”, with Healthcare, Components, and Digital Manufacturing as their “Strategic Businesses”. Despite making progress in expanding sales, the company fell short of their profit targets, leading to a need to enhance their corporate value for stable growth.

The new Medium-Term Management Plan for the period of April 2026 to March 2031 aims to strike a balance between improving short-term business performance and investing in long-term growth. The ultimate goal is to realize their Vision 2030 of becoming “a key technology solutions company in a global society where humans and machines co-create seamlessly”. This will be achieved through financial discipline, strategic resource allocation, and a focus on meeting customer needs, enhancing product efficiency, and advancing product precision and resilience.

With a global team of 20,000 employees, Nikon is committed to taking on new challenges and working towards their vision of being a leader in technology solutions. The company is dedicated to exceeding customer expectations, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing product quality to drive sustainable growth.

Yasuhiro Ohmura, the newly appointed Representative Director and President, CEO of Nikon, expressed his commitment to leading the company towards achieving its Vision 2030. With a focus on innovation, customer satisfaction, and strategic growth initiatives, Nikon is poised to continue its legacy of excellence in the industry.

As Nikon embarks on this new chapter under the leadership of Yasuhiro Ohmura, the company is set to redefine its position in the market and drive towards a future where technology and human ingenuity converge seamlessly.
