Salesforce has made a significant announcement regarding the new capabilities of Slackbot. These new features include a note-taking capability across the entire desktop, reusable AI skills, and voice input. The integration of Slackbot has already been proven to save users numerous hours of work every week. To gain more insight into the impact of Slackbot on businesses, the Salesforce Newsroom spoke with two Slackbot customers prior to the launch event in San Francisco.
Demetri Salvaggio, VP of Customer Experience and Operations at Engine, a travel platform catering to small and medium businesses, and Brandon Metcalf, CEO and Founder of Asymbl, a workforce orchestration company, shared their experiences with using Slackbot in their respective businesses.
Asymbl, being a workforce orchestration company, has established a team of around 170 digital workers, each managed and measured like actual employees. These digital workers, such as Teddy and Polly, consult Slackbot as part of their workflow. Engine has benefited from the integration of Slackbot with Salesforce CRM, allowing the team to access account insights and case information directly within Slack. This seamless integration aligns with Engine’s Slack-native culture from day one.
Brandon Metcalf expressed his admiration for Slackbot, stating that it is the team’s favorite digital worker due to its understanding of how they work and its compatibility with other digital workers. Both Salvaggio and Metcalf highlighted key use cases where Slackbot has proven to be invaluable, such as channel summarization, CRM integration, and meeting preparation. Engine has witnessed a 40% reduction in sales rep research time thanks to Slackbot’s ability to pull Salesforce data and synthesize conversations.
In addition to the planned use cases, both companies also discovered unexpected benefits of using Slackbot. For instance, employees at Engine started using Slackbot organically for meeting preparation, while Asymbl stumbled upon personal discoveries while exploring Slackbot’s capabilities.
When offering advice to other companies considering implementing AI tools like Slackbot, Salvaggio emphasized the importance of defining what success looks like before deployment and measuring the impact both quantitatively and qualitatively. Metcalf advised treating AI as labor, assigning it specific tasks, understanding its motivations for success, and managing it accordingly.
In conclusion, the integration of AI tools like Slackbot requires a shift in mindset where everyone becomes a manager guiding their digital teammates to perform effectively. By viewing AI tools as valuable team members with specific roles and goals, companies can maximize their impact and efficiency.
Overall, the new capabilities of Slackbot introduced by Salesforce are expected to revolutionize the way businesses operate and collaborate, providing innovative solutions to streamline workflows and enhance productivity.
