VG-70 Variable
The VG-70 Variable stands out as a versatile weapon in the primary category. This seven-barreled volley gun offers three distinct firing modes:
- Auto Mode: Allows you to select from three different rounds per minute (RPM) settings for continuous fire.
- Volley Mode: Fires a single shot from each barrel simultaneously.
- Total Mode: Discharges all remaining ammunition in one powerful blast. However, a word of caution: using the Total Mode with a large amount of ammunition could potentially harm the user.
G-31 Arc Grenade
Another exciting addition is the G-31 Arc Grenade. This lightweight grenade is designed to bounce and discharge electricity that targets nearby enemies and, potentially, fellow Helldivers. This unique feature makes it both a powerful and risky tool on the battlefield.
PLAS-45 Epoch Support Weapon
The PLAS-45 Epoch is a support weapon that charges plasma into a concentrated sphere before firing. While this weapon is battlefield-ready, researchers warn that overcharging can lead to an explosion. No safe mode exists, so handle it with care. Field testing will be crucial to understanding its optimal use.
A/LAS-98 Laser Sentry
In terms of offensive technology, the A/LAS-98 Laser Sentry is a notable development. This sentry replaces the standard turret ammunition canisters with a supersized heatsink, allowing for potentially limitless laser firing. However, continuous use without allowing for cooldown can lead to overheating and a possible explosion.
LIFT-182 Warp Pack Stratagem
Perhaps the most groundbreaking development from the Ministry of Defense is the LIFT-182 Warp Pack stratagem. This innovative device uses Dark Fluid to create a semi-stable wormhole on demand, enabling wearers to teleport short distances without cooldown between jumps. The process involves the wearer’s dematerialization and rematerialization in a new location. However, users should be aware that each jump further destabilizes the wormhole, and if it collapses completely, it could be fatal. The discomfort during dematerialization is a small price to pay for such a revolutionary traversal method.
Armors & More
It’s not just about weapons; personal protective equipment is equally important for safe field testing. The Control Group is now equipped with two new armor sets designed to offer optimal battlefield protection.
AD-26 Bleeding Edge & AD-49 Apollonian Armor
The medium armor, AD-26 Bleeding Edge, provides a balance of protection and mobility, making it ideal for most situations. For more hazardous experiments, the AD-49 Apollonian heavy armor offers enhanced protection against potential threats posed by the new equipment.
Both armor sets come with coordinating capes—Conductor of Brilliance and Over Artifice Triumphant—and feature a new passive ability: Adreno-Defibrillator. This device activates when the user takes lethal damage, reviving them to full health. However, it only has one charge, and the user will start losing health after its activation.
In addition to these armors, new player cards matching the capes and a new emote, Protect Eardrums, are available. This emote emphasizes the importance of preventing noise-induced hearing loss—a crucial aspect of safety during field testing.
