We are excited to recognize three outstanding members of the developer community as AWS Heroes. These individuals embody the spirit of the AWS community, not only by sharing their technical expertise but also by fostering connections, building relationships, and paving the way for others to grow. From promoting cloud technology in rural areas to leading cybersecurity education on a global scale, these Heroes exemplify leadership that goes beyond technical skills to impact the communities they serve.

Maurizio, hailing from Pignola, Italy, is a Community Hero who serves as the CTO and organizer of the AWS User Group Basilicata. Known for his commitment to building tech ecosystems in underserved areas, Maurizio has been at the forefront of creating a cloud culture based on genuine human connections and knowledge sharing for over ten years. He initiated an international tech conference in a small mountain village, bringing together experts from around the world to share insights on cloud architectures, DevOps, and web scaling. In addition to organizing events, Maurizio is a dedicated mentor, guiding individuals of all ages in their journey into cloud architecture. His leadership style, which combines technical acumen with inclusive community building, has attracted people from across Europe.

Ray Goh, based in Singapore, is an Artificial Intelligence Hero with a wealth of experience in machine learning and AI within the AWS community. Ray has been actively involved in various AWS community programs since 2018, including being a part of the AWS ASEAN Cloud Warrior and AWS Dev/Cloud Alliance. In 2024, he founded The Gen-C, a Generative AI Learning Community, where he conducts workshops on topics like LLM fine-tuning and AI agents on AWS. Ray has been a speaker at prestigious events such as AWS re:Invent and AWS Summit ASEAN, showcasing his expertise in the field. He has also led significant initiatives, like the largest enterprise AWS DeepRacer program for DBS Bank, upskilling thousands of employees. Ray’s commitment to community work extends to teaching AI and machine learning to underrepresented groups, earning him recognition in media outlets like CNBC and Euromoney.

Sheyla Leacock, based in Panama City, Panama, is a Security Hero who has made significant contributions to the global cloud and cybersecurity community. Sheyla is an IT security professional, mentor, technical author, and international speaker who has shared her expertise at various events, including AWS Summit Mexico and AWS Summit LATAM. She leads the AWS User Group in Panama and actively participates in AWS Community Days and regional meetups. Sheyla’s impact goes beyond AWS-focused events, as she delivers talks at international conferences and publishes educational content on AWS cloud computing and cybersecurity. She also collaborates with universities as a guest lecturer, supporting the development of future technology and cybersecurity professionals.
