The Game Developers Conference (GDC) Festival of Gaming 2026 took place from March 9-13 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, bringing together developers, technical leaders, and industry experts to explore the latest display innovations that are revolutionizing the PC gaming experience.
Samsung Electronics was also present at the event, showcasing its cutting-edge Odyssey gaming monitors and technologies at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis. The company invited gaming industry leaders, enthusiasts, and media to experience the Odyssey gaming monitor lineup and play popular PC titles like “Cyberpunk 2077” and “Hell is Us.”
One of the highlights of the event was the Odyssey 3D display. Utilizing advanced eye-tracking and view-mapping technology, the monitor offers a glasses-free 4K 3D display that dynamically adjusts depth as players move in front of the screen, providing a truly immersive gaming experience. Visitors had the opportunity to try out the game “Hell is Us” in 3D on the 27-inch Odyssey 3D (G90XF) before its public release on Samsung’s 3D gaming library.
The response to the glasses-free 3D experience was overwhelmingly positive, with visitors praising the enhanced visuals and immersive gameplay. “Hell is Us” captivated audiences with its intricate details and atmospheric elements, making it easier for players to navigate the game world and immerse themselves in its storyline.
Another game, “Cronos: The New Dawn,” showcased the capabilities of 3D gaming through a launch trailer, providing a more immersive and engaging experience for players. The added depth on screen heightened the sense of scale and atmosphere, enhancing the overall gaming experience.
At the event, HDR10+ GAMING was a hot topic of discussion among developers. This technology allows game feeds to send scene-by-scene information to the monitor, ensuring that highlights, shadows, and colors are accurately represented, similar to how they appear in the developers’ builds. Technical leaders were particularly interested in the 32-inch Odyssey G8 6K (G80HS) monitor, which offers higher resolution and detailed UI elements, as well as the 27-inch Odyssey G6 (G60H) monitor with a 1,040Hz refresh rate for fast-paced gaming.
A roundtable discussion brought together industry leaders to explore the use of new display technology in gaming and how it can drive innovation and creativity. Up-and-coming studios shared their experiences with experimenting with new display features, while larger publishers focused on setting standards that can be applied across different genres and platforms.
Samsung’s commitment to advancing gaming technology was evident throughout the event, with a growing library of 3D games and a focus on delivering exceptional gaming experiences to customers. The company plans to expand its 3D game portfolio to over 120 titles by the end of 2026, further solidifying its position as a leader in next-generation gaming.
As developer partnerships strengthen and consumer interest grows, Samsung is well-positioned to lead the way in next-generation gaming with its innovative monitor technologies, including 3D depth, dynamic HDR10+ GAMING, and high-resolution 6K capability.
