One of the standout features of the Monterrey plant is its AI-based system for supplier connected planning. This solution addresses issues such as missing parts, excess inventory, and manual inefficiencies. By managing over 5 million parts from more than 2,000 tier 1 and 3,000 tier 2 suppliers, the AI system ensures parts are ready, simulates order changes, and automatically assigns parts to maintain balanced inventory and smooth production processes.

AI-Based End-to-End Transportation Tracking and Disruption Control

The Monterrey facility also employs AI to streamline transportation logistics. Shipping operations are often complex, influenced by numerous regulations, poor container utilization, and unreliable delivery times. To address these challenges, a deep learning AI engine is utilized to optimize route planning, container loading, and real-time tracking. This advanced system identifies and resolves delays, significantly reducing logistics costs and improving delivery accuracy.

Digital Twin Enabled Supply Chain Control Tower

To manage delays arising from supply chain disruptions, Lenovo’s Monterrey site uses a digital twin—a virtual model of the supply chain. This tool gathers data from over 50 sources and monitors more than 40 risk types. Powered by AI, the digital twin provides real-time insights via a chatbot, assisting teams in swiftly responding to challenges and maintaining smooth operations.

Lenovo’s supply chain is extensive, encompassing over 30 manufacturing sites across 11 markets, including regions in Asia Pacific, China, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, North America, and South America. In fact, Gartner has ranked Lenovo #8 among the world’s top 25 supply chains and #1 among supply chains in the Asia Pacific region.
