Community Over Code Glasgow is set to take place from October 11 to October 14, 2026, with a special event called Lakehouse Day scheduled for October 10. This event, organized by The Apache Software Foundation (ASF), aims to shine a spotlight on the individuals, projects, and practices that drive the open-source community forward.

Lakehouse Day will provide a platform for projects within the lakehouse ecosystem to come together, network, and collaborate on innovative ideas. With multiple tracks and a full day of programming, participants can engage in deep technical discussions, explore real-world use cases, and foster cross-project collaboration.

For those interested in attending Community Over Code but require financial assistance, applications for travel assistance are now open. The Travel Assistance Committee (TAC) of The ASF provides support with travel expenses, accommodation, and conference fees. The deadline to apply for assistance is June 3, 2026.

In addition to the upcoming event, The ASF is celebrating significant milestones in various projects. The Foundation is proud to commemorate the anniversaries of 18 Top-Level Projects, ranging from 1 to 25+ years. Among these projects are Apache Celeborn, Apache CloudStack, Apache UIMA, Apache Struts, and Apache Maven.

Furthermore, The ASF is excited to announce the graduation of two new projects, Apache Gluten and Apache Polaris, to Top-Level Project status. Graduating from the Apache Incubator signifies the maturity and health of these projects, highlighting their success within the open-source community.

On the organizational front, The ASF recently held its annual Members’ Meeting, where new members were welcomed, and the Board of Directors was elected. The newly elected board members include Zili Chen, Shane Curcuru, Christofer Dutz, and others. The ASF expresses gratitude to outgoing board members for their service and looks forward to working with the new directors.

In a special message from the President of The ASF, Ruth Suehle, she reflects on the growth and changes within the Foundation. She acknowledges the contributions of outgoing board members and welcomes new appointments, including the Executive Vice President, Daniel Ruggeri. Suehle also hints at exciting developments in the works and encourages participation in upcoming events like Community Over Code.

As The ASF continues to foster innovation and collaboration within the open-source community, it looks forward to engaging with stakeholders, partners, and enthusiasts at future events like Iceberg Summit 2026 and Community Over Code Asia.
