Housemarque, known for their exceptional action gameplay, is set to release their latest game, Saros, on April 30th for PS5 players. This sci-fi action game with a cosmic horror twist follows a rescue crew as they try to uncover the mystery of a human colony that has gone dark at the edge of the cosmos.
The game’s core mechanics are intuitive and tied to the adaptive triggers of the DualSense controller, making it easy to pick up and play. Players will take on the role of Enforcer Arjun, who must navigate the alien planet of Carcosa, where death is not the end. Each time Arjun falls, he resurrects back at the home base to start his expedition anew.
Saros features a variety of weapons, including Hand Cannons, Rifles, and Shotguns, each with unique perks and fire modes. Players can scavenge these weapons as they explore the planet and utilize them to fend off enemies. Additionally, players can use a directional Dash and Shield to protect themselves from harm, with the Shield’s power level playing a crucial role in survival.
One of the game’s unique features is the ability to absorb and utilize Carcosan energy through a Power Weapon, activated with a full pull of the trigger. This energy can be replenished by absorbing enemy projectiles, adding a strategic element to combat. The game’s fast-paced combat and intricate mechanics create a dynamic gameplay experience that keeps players on their toes.
During the game, players will encounter epic boss battles that test their skills and reflexes. These multi-phase encounters provide a challenge for even the most seasoned players and add to the overall intensity of the game.
Players can also trigger eclipses in specific areas of Carcosa, changing the environment and introducing new challenges. While eclipses bring increased risks, they also offer greater rewards, making them a worthwhile endeavor for players seeking a more dangerous world to explore. Lucenite, the game’s currency, becomes more valuable during eclipses, allowing players to unlock permanent upgrades and unique artifacts.
In addition to combat, players can uncover the mysteries of Carcosa by exploring side paths and interacting with remnants of the colony camps. These discoveries add depth to the story and provide insight into the fate of the missing colonists. The game’s group dynamics and character interactions create a sense of unease and tension, adding to the overall horror atmosphere of the game.
Saros offers a unique and immersive gaming experience for players looking for a challenging and atmospheric adventure. With its blend of intense combat, strategic gameplay, and rich narrative, the game promises to deliver an unforgettable journey through the depths of space.
