Salesforce and Databricks Expand Partnership to Enhance AI Integration

This collaboration focuses on addressing the challenges enterprises face when deploying AI agents, particularly in ensuring that these agents have access to the necessary data within a secure and governed framework.

Addressing Data Disconnection Challenges

As businesses increasingly adopt AI technologies, they encounter a significant hurdle: the data required for analytics and AI often exists in silos, disconnected from the business context and security protocols necessary for effective action. This disconnection can lead to AI-generated recommendations that lack the proper permissions context, hindering their practical application.

The expanded partnership between Salesforce and Databricks aims to bridge this gap by providing a framework that connects enterprise data with essential business context. This integration enables both human employees and AI agents to make informed decisions confidently, ensuring that actions taken are aligned with organizational security and compliance standards.

Creating a Shared Foundation for Human-AI Collaboration

Governed Business Context

The partnership builds on the existing Zero Copy infrastructure between Salesforce Data 360 and Databricks Unity Catalog. New governance features aim to solve a persistent challenge faced by enterprises: when data is spread across multiple platforms, security rules and permissions often need to be recreated for each system. This redundancy can slow teams down and expose organizations to risk.

New capabilities such as Federated Authentication, identity mapping, governance interoperability, and metadata-aware access controls are designed to provide consistent security measures across both platforms. By streamlining governance processes, organizations can deploy AI-driven workflows more rapidly while maintaining robust compliance controls.

Organizations like Pacers Sports & Entertainment have already recognized the benefits of integrating enterprise data with operational context through this partnership. Chief Commercial Officer Joey Graziano noted that it allows teams to better understand customer interactions and personalize experiences effectively.

Cross-Platform Discovery and Action

Once a shared business context is established, effective discovery mechanisms become crucial. New Federated Search capabilities enable users to access enterprise data seamlessly across Salesforce and Databricks. This integration allows Agentforce agents to search Databricks while users in Databricks can query Salesforce data.

This bi-directional search capability enhances productivity by enabling users to find answers quickly. For instance, a sales representative could inquire about a strategic account’s renewal risks and receive insights combining customer data from Salesforce with operational metrics from Databricks. The agent can then recommend actionable next steps within established business processes.

MuleSoft’s Agent Scanners further enhance cross-platform interoperability by providing automatic visibility into Agent Fabric, enabling governance at scale. The collaboration also explores how Agentforce agents could be integrated through Databricks Unity AI Gateway, linking discovery directly to actionable insights while maintaining visibility and control.

Integrating Enterprise Context into Daily Workflows

As work becomes more distributed among humans and AI agents alike, it is essential that business context is readily available wherever tasks are performed. New integrations with Slack bring Databricks-powered insights directly into everyday workflows. Features such as Databricks Genie allow users to access real-time information without leaving their communication platform.

This integration facilitates a new operating model where humans collaborate alongside AI agents to boost productivity. For example, retail managers can use Slack to inquire about potential inventory shortages due to weather disruptions, receiving recommendations powered by Databricks Genie within the same channel.

Rahul Auradkar, President and GM of Data Foundations at Salesforce, pointed out that the challenge now lies not in creating more agents but in equipping them with trusted data and governance frameworks necessary for safe operations at scale.

A Growing Strategic Partnership

This expansion of collaboration reflects an ongoing commitment between Salesforce and Databricks as part of Salesforce’s broader strategy for its data ecosystem. The partnership was recently recognized at the Data & AI Summit 2026 when Salesforce received the ISV Business App Partner of the Year award from Databricks for their joint innovation efforts.

Availability

MuleSoft Agent Scanner for Databricks is now generally available along with foundational Data 360 Zero Copy capabilities. Enhancements for Data 360 are expected in H2 2026. The Slack Genie App is currently in Public Preview with general availability anticipated later this year. Additional capabilities related to agentic search will continue rolling out throughout H2 2026.
