In a groundbreaking event at Art Basel in Basel 2025, Samsung Electronics hosted a unique media session focusing on the evolving role of art in everyday life. The event, titled "Living With Art," featured an impressive lineup, including RM, the global ambassador for Samsung Art TV and a member of the iconic pop group BTS, Clément Delépine, Director of Art Basel Paris, and artist Basim Magdy. They explored how technology is revolutionizing the way people experience, collect, and integrate art into their daily lives.

The session was further enriched by the insights of Sofia Monteiro, Curator at Samsung Art Store Europe. Together, they discussed how digital platforms, like Samsung Art TV, are making art more accessible, personal, and emotionally impactful in people’s everyday lives.

Part 1: RM’s Journey to Peace and Personal Taste Through Art

RM shared his personal journey with art, describing it as a profound source of comfort and curiosity. In a relaxed setting with Sofia Monteiro, he recounted his early love for literature and his subsequent discovery of visual art. He emphasized how platforms like the Samsung Art Store are modernizing access to art, especially for those unsure about where to start their artistic journey.

"Art is already deeply embedded in our lives—in literature, architecture, film, and music," RM expressed. "Yet, many find it hard to understand. But I believe it’s already within us."

This instinctual connection to art became apparent during a tour stop in Chicago. RM visited the Art Institute of Chicago, where seeing works by Monet and others left a lasting impression. "Seeing those artworks up close—the details and textures—was truly impressive," RM recalled.

RM highlighted how living with art brings beauty into everyday life, even in quiet or overlooked moments. This is what attracted him to The Frame, a Samsung product that seamlessly integrates art into the home. "Friends often think it’s a piece of new media art, not a TV," he shared.

The second session shifted towards industry insights, featuring a panel moderated by Sofia Monteiro, with contributions from Basim Magdy and Clément Delépine. They explored how digital tools are reshaping art discovery, engagement, and collection.

Delépine reflected on a cultural shift where physical artwork still holds immense value, but how people experience it is transforming. "The discovery of art now incorporates digital galleries, curated feeds, and even algorithmic discovery," he explained. "It’s not just about owning an object anymore; it’s about the experience."

This shift from ownership to experience is particularly relevant in a time when access to physical galleries is limited for many. Magdy emphasized the power of sharing art globally. "You’re connecting with people you may never meet, and that’s both beautiful and surreal," he said. "It’s not a replacement for seeing art in person, but it invites emotional connections in new ways."

The panelists agreed that platforms like Samsung Art Store allow people to discover their artistic preferences through visual immersion. "The Frame reminds me of how we used to collect and curate images online," Delépine shared. "You’d collect images, and over time, patterns would emerge. That process helped shape your taste, and The Frame enables something similar but in your own space."

The discussion also touched on preserving the emotional depth of art, even as it becomes more digitized. "It’s like listening to your favorite band at home versus being at the concert," said Magdy. "Digital can’t replicate everything, but it can open the door. And that matters."

Looking forward, Delépine pointed to AI as a tool likely to shape the future of art, albeit one that shouldn’t overshadow the human touch. "Using AI won’t make you an artist, just as editing tools don’t make you a director," he said. "Vision still matters more than the tools."

The panelists shared a unified vision: technology expands, rather than diminishes, the power of art. By making it easier to access, explore, and connect with art, platforms like Samsung Art Store are helping to democratize creativity for a new generation of collectors and viewers.

A Seamless Union: Art, Technology, and Accessibility

The event coincided with the launch of the Art Basel in Basel (ABB) Collection, the largest Art Basel curation yet on Samsung Art Store. This collection features 38 curated works spanning continents, mediums, and generations, including contributions from an Africa-based gallery for the first time.

At Samsung ArtCube, visitors were invited to explore these works through Samsung Art TVs, such as The Frame, The Frame Pro, Neo QLED 8K, and MICRO LED. These displays demonstrate how innovative technology can enhance the emotional impact of fine art in the home.
