NewsSamsung, Art Basel Launch Biggest Collection on Art Store

A Digital Exhibition Celebrating Global Diversity and Artistic Innovation

In a pioneering move that blends technology with artistic expression, Samsung Electronics has announced a groundbreaking digital art collection, the Art Basel in Basel (ABB) Collection. This new initiative, available exclusively through the Samsung Art Store, is set to offer Samsung Art TV users an expansive selection of digital artworks. Marking a significant milestone in Samsung’s collaboration with Art Basel, this collection seeks to democratize access to world-class art, bringing it into the homes of a global audience.

The ABB Collection is distinguished by its emphasis on diversity, featuring pieces that span continents, mediums, and voices. For the first time, the collection includes representation from an Africa-based gallery, further enriching the cultural tapestry of the Samsung x Art Basel initiative. Art enthusiasts will have the opportunity to view some of these works at Art Basel, held at Messe Basel in Switzerland from June 19-22.

A Curated Vision of Global Expression

The ABB Collection is a carefully curated selection of 38 pieces, handpicked from over 100 submissions. This curation process focused on artist diversity, a variety of mediums, and geographic representation. The collection celebrates a broad spectrum of creativity, from emerging artists to established visionaries, reflecting Art Basel’s commitment to promoting contemporary art from every corner of the globe.

Highlighted works within the collection include:

  • Roméo Mivekannin’s "Young woman with peonies after Frédéric Bazille" (2023): This piece offers a modern reinterpretation of classical portraiture, viewed through a postcolonial lens.
  • Basim Magdy’s "An Intergalactic Messenger Teleported us to a Cave Settlement Ruled by Shared Compassion and Humility" (2022): A vibrant exploration of utopian futurism, this piece invites viewers to imagine an alternate, harmonious future.
  • Zandile Tshabalala’s "Pink Blossoms" (2024): A powerful celebration of Black femininity and the beauty of nature, this portrait captivates with its vivid colors and emotive expression.
  • Antonia Kuo’s "Willo" (diptych) (2024): This striking dual-panel composition merges digital manipulation with analog techniques, showcasing the artist’s innovative approach.

The collection also features works by iconic artists like Jo Baer, Kibong Rhee, and Lynn Hershman Leeson, adding to the visual and thematic richness of this year’s selection.

ArtCube: An Interactive Experience at Art Basel

In addition to the digital collection, Samsung will present ArtCube at Art Basel, an interactive lounge designed to showcase the fusion of art and technology. This immersive experience will highlight how Samsung’s The Frame, MICRO LED, and Neo QLED 8K redefine digital art with breathtaking detail and depth.

ArtCube offers visitors the chance to engage with exclusive collections from the Samsung Art Store and experience premium picture quality firsthand. Guests can also create customized portraits of moving art pieces, a feature unique to ArtCube’s tailored curation. Complementing the lounge experience, Samsung will host panel discussions featuring influential voices from the contemporary art world, exploring how technology is expanding the boundaries of artistic expression and accessibility.

    Strengthening a Cultural Partnership

The collaboration between Samsung and Art Basel has been instrumental in introducing curated digital collections. This partnership began with the 2024 Art Basel Miami Beach, continued through the 2025 Art Basel Hong Kong, and now includes the 2025 Art Basel in Basel. Artworks from these collections have garnered global acclaim among Art Store users, with several pieces ranking among the top 10 most-viewed artworks.

Maike Cruse, Director of Art Basel in Basel, expressed excitement about the ongoing partnership: "With the launch of a new collection in the Samsung Art Store for Art Basel in Basel 2025, we’re thrilled to offer our global audiences new ways to engage with our show. Our partnership with Samsung extends the visitor experience beyond the Messe and into people’s homes, creating new entry points to discover the exceptional artists and galleries that define our flagship fair in Basel.”
