This month has ushered in a series of captivating updates across various gaming platforms, particularly for Xbox enthusiasts. From streamlined purchasing options within the Xbox mobile app to the ability to stream your own games directly from Xbox consoles, these developments aim to enhance user experiences and offer more convenience. Additionally, innovative ways to free up storage space and other exciting features are on the horizon for your favorite devices. Let’s delve deeper into these updates and what they mean for gamers.
Buy Games, Join Game Pass, and Redeem Perks Directly from the Xbox App
One of the most anticipated updates from the Xbox community has finally arrived. Gamers can now purchase games and additional content, join the Game Pass, and redeem perks directly from the Xbox mobile app. This feature simplifies the process, allowing players to pre-order games like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 and set them to pre-install on their Xbox consoles. Popular titles like Assassin’s Creed Shadows and MLB The Show 25 are also available for purchase. Additionally, players can seamlessly join Game Pass through the app, with perks like the Sea of Thieves Seventh Serving Emote ready for redemption.
This innovative experience is gradually being rolled out to beta users on iOS and Android, with a broader release expected soon on the Google Play Store and Apple Store. For those with a saved payment method, purchasing games and addons is now just a couple of clicks away.
Stream Your Own Game – Now on Xbox Consoles
In a significant advancement for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One users, Game Pass Ultimate members can now stream select games they own, in addition to the vast Game Pass catalog. This development extends the previously announced device compatibility that includes Samsung Smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV devices, and Meta Quest headsets, alongside browser-supported devices like PCs, smartphones, and tablets. This feature allows for immediate gameplay without the need for downloads, saving both time and storage space.
To begin streaming from your Xbox console, navigate to My games & apps > Full library > Owned Games. Games that are cloud playable will have a cloud badge on their page. You can use filters to quickly find games, selecting Filter > Ready to play > Cloud gaming. Then, simply choose the game and select Play with Cloud Gaming to start streaming. You can also start streaming directly from the Store app after purchasing select cloud playable games.

Access Xbox Remote Play From More Devices
Xbox remote play has now been expanded to include more devices. Gamers can play any game installed on their console by visiting xbox.com/remoteplay on any device with a supported web browser. Although direct access to Xbox remote play from the Xbox mobile app is being phased out, players can still enjoy gaming through mobile browsers.
Moreover, Xbox remote play will soon be available on additional devices, such as supported Samsung Smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV devices, and Meta Quest headsets. By integrating Xbox remote play and Xbox Cloud Gaming on Xbox.com, the platform can support a wider range of devices, provide access to the store on the mobile app, and allow for enhanced streaming experiences. Notably, backward compatible games from the original Xbox and Xbox 360 will now be streamable via remote play across all supported devices.
Free Up Space in My Games & Apps
A new feature has been introduced to help users manage storage more effectively on all Xbox consoles. Alongside showing unused add-ons and shrinkable games, the system now offers recommendations for deleting duplicate copies of games and those no longer accessible. To take advantage of this feature, go to My Games & Apps > Manage > Free up space.
Game Hubs
The arrival of new game hubs on Xbox consoles is designed to provide players with comprehensive information about their selected games. Game hubs display player stats, achievements, friends currently engaged in the game, recent captures, available add-ons, events, and more. For some users, these hubs will appear when selecting a game from recent plays or installed game lists. The focus in game hubs is always on the Play button, enabling a swift transition into gameplay with a quick double-tap.
A new setting allows players to launch games directly without passing through game hubs. This can be activated through personalization settings or by navigating to My games & apps > Manage > Games & apps.
