RM of BTS, Industry Experts, and Contemporary Artists Collaborate with Samsung to Shape the Future of Art in Homes
In an exciting convergence of art and technology, Samsung Electronics recently organized a media session at Art Basel in Basel 2025. This session was dedicated to exploring the evolving role of art in our daily lives, with a special focus on how technological advancements are transforming how we experience, collect, and live with art. The event, titled "Living With Art," featured BTS’s RM, a global ambassador for Samsung Art TV, along with Clément Delépine, Director of Art Basel Paris, and artist Basim Magdy. Their insights highlighted how digital platforms are making art more accessible and emotionally resonant.
Together with Sofia Monteiro, the Curator at Samsung Art Store Europe, the speakers discussed how platforms like Samsung Art TV are bridging the gap between art and everyday life. They emphasized the role of digital technology in enhancing personal and emotional connections with art.
Part 1: RM on Discovering Peace and Personal Taste Through Art
RM, a member of the globally renowned pop group BTS, shared his personal journey with art, reflecting on how it provides him with comfort and curiosity. In a relaxed discussion with Sofia Monteiro, RM spoke about his early love for literature and his subsequent discovery of visual art. He emphasized how digital platforms like Samsung Art Store are revolutionizing access to art, especially for those who might feel uncertain about where to begin.
"Art is already deeply embedded in our lives — in literature, architecture, film, and of course, music," RM stated. "But a lot of people still find art hard to understand. I think it’s already inside of us."
RM recounted a pivotal moment during a visit to the Art Institute of Chicago, where seeing works by Monet and other artists in person deeply moved him. "The details and textures were so impressive," he recalled. This experience underscored the importance of art in grounding people in beauty, even in overlooked moments.
RM also highlighted the role of digital tools in making art discovery more intuitive. He mentioned how Samsung Art Store Streams help introduce him to artists he might never have encountered otherwise. With the launch of his curated collection on Samsung Art Store, RM offers users a glimpse into his artistic preferences, featuring works from emerging global voices to timeless modernists.
Part 2: Reimagining the Art Experience With Technology
The second part of the event shifted focus to industry insights, featuring a panel discussion moderated by Sofia Monteiro. This session included Basim Magdy, a multidisciplinary artist, and Clément Delépine, Director of Art Basel Paris. They discussed how digital tools are reshaping the way people discover, engage with, and collect art.
Clément Delépine noted a significant cultural shift, where the discovery of art now involves digital galleries, curated feeds, and algorithmic discovery, in addition to traditional physical experiences. "It’s no longer just about owning an object — it’s about the experience that leads you there," he explained.
Magdy highlighted the power of sharing art with global audiences, describing it as both beautiful and surreal. While acknowledging that digital platforms can’t fully replicate the experience of seeing art in person, he emphasized their role in fostering emotional connections.
The panelists agreed that platforms like Samsung Art Store can help people discover their artistic preferences through visual immersion. Delépine likened the process to collecting and curating images online, which helps shape one’s taste over time.
They also discussed the importance of preserving the emotional depth of art, even as it becomes more digitized. "It’s like listening to your favorite band at home versus being at the concert," Magdy said. "Digital can’t replicate everything, but it can open the door. And that matters."
Looking ahead, Delépine mentioned the potential impact of AI in shaping the future of art but stressed that human vision remains paramount. "Using AI won’t make you an artist, just as editing tools don’t make you a director," he said.
A Seamless Union: Art, Technology, and Accessibility
The event coincided with the launch of the Art Basel in Basel (ABB) Collection on Samsung Art Store, featuring 38 curated works from diverse continents, mediums, and generations. This collection includes contributions from an Africa-based gallery for the first time, highlighting a broader variety of emerging voices.
At the Samsung ArtCube, visitors could explore these works through Samsung Art TVs, including The Frame, The Frame Pro, Neo QLED 8K, and MICRO LED. This setup demonstrated how display innovation can enhance the emotional impact of fine art in the home.
"At Samsung, we see technology as a bridge, not a barrier, to emotional and cultural connection," said Amelia-Eve Warden, Senior Communications Manager at Samsung Europe. "Whether it’s discovering a new artist or reinterpreting a classic, we’re proud to help more people make art part of their everyday rhythm."
Living With Art On Your Terms
The "Living With Art" sessions underscored a shared belief that art is no longer something to visit; it’s something to live with. Whether through museum visits, personal collections, or digital frames in the living room, art today is more accessible, personal, and resonant than ever before.
Samsung’s ongoing partnership with Art Basel across all four global editions reaffirms their commitment to democratizing art. The message is clear: art doesn’t need to live on a pedestal; it can live with the viewer, enriching everyday life with its beauty and inspiration.
