GadgetsWhat To Expect From Oculus Quest 3: Meta's Upcoming VR headset

Excited for Oculus Quest 3, the upcoming VR headset by Meta? Let’s find out what can you expect from the successor of Quest 2.

Undoubtedly, Oculus Quest 2 emerged to be the most successful VR headset and still rules millions of hearts even though more than two years have passed since its first launch. Now, people are curious to know what Meta is planning for the future of the Quest series. If the rumors are to be believed, Meta is planning to launch four new headsets over the next two years.

While Meta is expected to release Project Cambria in 2022, it cannot be considered to be a successor to Quest 2. Cambria is a more advanced AR/VR hybrid headset and costs a lot more than the Quest 2. Moreover, it is not an independent VR headset like Quest.
While it will not be a complete surprise if Meta plans to release the successor of its most successful VR product. However, it is unlikely that this will happen in the future.

That is because it has not been long since the company renamed the Quest headset lineup, and now it resonates more with the company’s name. So, it would be safe to say that Oculus Quest 2 will be the last member of the Oculus lineup, and Quest 3 will be released as Meta Quest 3.

You should know that the Quest lineup is likely to continue and Meta is expected to distinguish the project Meta Quest 3 from project Cambria. However, both the VR headsets are likely to contain the same features thus distinguishing the two will be a difficult task.

Keeping the above details in mind, let’s take a look at the features and specs of Oculus Quest 3.

As said before, there has been no official announcement of the price for the successor of Quest 2, but it would be safer to say that it will be prized way less than what Project Cambria will cost. For the uninitiated, Quest 2 was priced way less than the original model, and the 64 GB headsets were prized at 299 USD instead of USD 399. If the same trend continues, there are chances that you can own a Quest 3 at a much lower price value than what its ancestors cost.

Meta has smartly maintained an affordable price line for its VR headsets because it fuels its future ambitions of Meta. The idea is to let the common people experience virtual reality for an affordable price which paves the way for Metaverse and Web 3.0.
