8 Best Solutions To Fix Netflix Not Working?

Netflix may be one of the world’s most popular video streaming services, but that doesn’t mean it’s always a pleasure to use. The reliance on apps, internet connectivity, and third-party hardware can occasionally result in Netflix not working: the official apps collapsing, not opening properly, being unable to play movies and TV shows, or simply loading a black screen on your TV or tablet.

1. Your Netflix App Keeps Crashing

It has occurred to all of us at some point: one of your favourite apps begins to crash every time you try to use it. After the initial shock wears off, there are a few actions you may do to try to resolve the issue—but a lot of it depends on whatever device you’re using.

Users of smartphones should begin by force-stopping the Netflix app. If the problem persists, try switching your phone off and on again. It still doesn’t work, you’ll need to uninstall and reinstall the software from the proper app store. So, if you’re using a set-top streaming box, the same procedure applies.

If you use Netflix on your smart TV, you may be unable to uninstall the program. Instead, try signing out of the app, clearing the TV’s cache, and then signing back in. Alternatively, if you’re using the Netflix app on Windows or macOS, consider turning off your antivirus software. This is due to the certainty that various security suites interact with the operation.

2. On Android, you are encountering Netflix Error 12001.

Fix Netflix Not Working

Many Android users report encountering error code 12001 when attempting to run the app on their device. Both smartphones and tablets are affected by this issue.

The existence of obsolete data on your computer causes error code 12001. To get the Netflix app to operate again, you must refresh the data. But how do you update the data?

Head to Settings > Apps and alerts > Scroll down and tap on the Netflix entry after viewing all apps. Go to Storage and cache in the Netflix submenu, then touch on Clear storage and Clear cache.

3. Netflix Content Cannot Download

Netflix eventually started allowing customers to save material to view offline in 2016. This means you can catch up on TV series and movies before a long flight or if you know you’ll be visiting an area with a poor internet connection. Unfortunately, this functionality does not always function perfectly. You can take a few actions if you’re having trouble downloading content.

To begin, if you have a jailbroken iPhone or a rooted Android device, you can stop reading right now. The functionality will not function.

Second, ensure that you have at least Android 4.4.2 or iOS 8, the most recent version of the Netflix software and that you have enough memory on your device.

If everything else fails, reinstall Netflix on your phone or tablet.

4. Netflix Error 1012 on iOS

Fix Netflix Not WorkingError 1012 is only available to iOS users. It indicates a network connectivity problem—your Netflix app cannot connect to the Netflix servers.

You can attempt these simple troubleshooting procedures to see if you can solve the problem. Attempt restarting the app, your device, and your home network, for example.

If none of these solutions works, you must reset the Netflix app from the iOS settings menu. Navigate to Settings > Netflix and turn the Reset toggle to the On position.

Close any previous Netflix sessions by tapping the Home button twice and swiping up on the Netflix app before relaunching Netflix. You will need to re-enter your login details.

5. Black Screen on Desktop

You may receive a black screen when you try to view a video on Netflix on Windows or macOS.

There are primary causes of this problem:

Cookies: Try clearing the cookies in your browser. The exact methods differ for each browser, but you’ll usually find the option in the Settings menu.

Microsoft deprecated Silverlight several years ago (though plugins are still available for some browsers). If you still have it installed, it may be interfering with video playback. You must remove it.

Antivirus: Some anti-virus solutions are incompatible with Netflix. Try temporarily disabling your security software.

If the black screen persists, try a new browser or disable any extensions you’re using. You should also look into how Chrome addons might break Netflix.

6. Too Many Users Watching Netflix

Netflix provides tiered pricing options, each of which enables more individuals to utilise Netflix simultaneously. The upper layout can only accommodate four people.

If you come across a warning that says “Your Netflix account is already active on another device. To continue, please cease playing on other devices. “This is your issue. All existing sessions can end by heading to Account > Settings > Sign out of all devices.

Navigate to Account > Settings > Recent device streaming activity to see a list of current sessions. The list will assist you in determining which users are online. You might be able to convince one of them to log out.

It’s worth noting that you can find out how many simultaneous screens your current plan supports by navigating to Account > Plan Details.

7. You are unable to access Netflix.

The obvious option is to change your password. In the future, make sure to use a password manager, such as LastPass, to avoid typing passwords erroneously.

However, prior to you hitting the reset button, it’s a good idea to go through your email inbox. Something more nefarious could be at work. On the dark web, unwary consumers’ Netflix login details change hands for tiny sums of money. They are frequently purchased by persons who are unable to create a Netflix account in their home country.

If Netflix detects unusual login behavior, it will suspend your account and send you an email instructing you to create a new password.

8. Netflix Doesn’t Work on Your Smart TV

The Netflix app included with various smart TVs is known for being less stable than that of the desktop, mobile, and set-top box versions. Most of the time, this is due to flaws in the TV’s internal hardware rather than a problem with Netflix.

Samsung smart TVs are particularly troublesome because they use the in-house Linux-based Tizen OS rather than Roku OS or Android TV.

There are a few things you may do if Netflix isn’t working on your Samsung smart TV.

To begin, unplug the TV from the wall, wait 30 seconds, and then reconnect it. Next, try disabling Samsung Instant On—some users have reported that the feature interferes with installed programmes such as Netflix.
