As its name suggests, it won’t offer any drastic changes, but rather enhanced, refined and tweaked version of current macOS Sierra. Just like Apple used to do with the cat naming convention – for example, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion was just a refinement and enhancement to the previous version, OS X 10.7 Lion. Though it has got few new features like support for Virtual reality (VR) and Apple’s new file system (APFS) but don’t expect too much.

What’s new in macOS High Sierra?

With the advent of Virtual Reality(VR) support, macOS High Sierra has become the first macOS of its type. It also lays a new foundation of Apple file system(APFS) which opens up a new possibilities for future innovation and enhances the file system’s security and responsiveness. APFS (Apple File System ) allows you to copy a file or folder and finding its size instantly while securing your data with built in encryption. Following are the few major changes:

  • For the first time macOS High Sierra supports Hindi as a new language throughout the entire Mac system.

  • It has included support to HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding, also known as H.265) which renders upto 40% better compression.
  • You can add tables to notes and Pin a note to remain at the top.
