Microsoft Is Updating Right-Click Context Menus In Windows 11

Windows has always remained to be a stage for the world’s top innovation. It’s always become the support system of global businesses and where scrappy startups became household names. When the web was born, it grew up on Windows. It’s the only place where most of us have written our first email; even the first PC game was played here only, and not to forget, we wrote our first line of code. Windows is the place people visit to create, connect, learn, and achieve – a platform over a billion people today trust. Snap Layouts, Snap Groups, and Desktops are all newly introduced in Windows 11, giving an even more powerful method to multitask and remain on top of what you need to get done.

Our Future: Windows 11

Microsoft’s Windows 11 is the next major version of the Windows NT operating system. Windows 11 is the successor to Windows 10, which was introduced in 2015. It was announced on June 24, 2021, and it is planned to be released in late 2021. In addition, Windows 11 will be available as a free upgrade through Windows Update for supported Windows 10 devices.

Microsoft upgrades the right-click context menus for UWP and Win32 (desktop) apps with Windows 11. Microsoft is also improving contextual file operations and giving new opportunities for Windows apps, including unpackaged Win32 apps, as part of the upgrade. Unlike the feature improvements that came with Windows 10, Windows 11 has a lot of new stuff. For example, Microsoft has modified the look of numerous context menus, as you may have noticed if you installed the preview releases. However, the new and recent context menu is still in its early stages, and it lacks some features seen in the original context menu.

Microsoft has added a new “Show more options” area to the context menu for older apps. If you choose “Show more options,” the original context menu that came with Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows 7 will appear. The original context menu, of course, now allows rounded edges as well, but the design stays unchanged. The new context menu in Windows 11 promises improved efficiency in addition to improved usability.

As you may be aware, since Windows XP, the classic menu has developed in an unregulated environment, and many commands rely on File Explorer (Explorer.exe). As a result, Microsoft users can’t change the context menu, and programs can’t add new options.

On Windows 10 and earlier versions, this creates performance and reliability difficulties.

Windows 11 new “Show more options” option loads the original context menu in a way that doesn’t degrade the system’s overall performance. The historical context menu commands haven’t been completely deleted, so apps that use earlier APIs will still use this new option. Common Windows commands have been moved to the top of the contemporary menu, in addition to speed enhancements. The new context menu includes standard functions like cut, copy, paste, remove, and rename, as shown in the screenshots above.

The Share Dialogue In Windows 11 Is Improving.

Additionally, with Windows 11, the built-in share dialogue for programs like Microsoft Edge has been improved. Users can now easily find their apps or settings in the Nearby sharing area, thanks to a redesigned interface. If a user uses the Mail app and it’s linked to numerous Outlook or Gmail accounts, for example, you can now quickly find the first entry in your contacts to send an email to yourself.

Previously, the Share dialogue was only available in Microsoft and Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps. Microsoft has made all platforms, including unpackaged Win32 programs, compatible with Windows 11. If they work on the Web Share Target API, Microsoft Edge PWAs will be able to use the new Share dialogue in addition to UWP and desktop apps.
